Elevate Your Health with Tailored Acupuncture Solutions

Acupuncture applies specific types of needles to key points in the body to trigger effects. Modern science has affirmed acupuncture’s efficacy and many of its mechanisms of action in the body.

Some of those mechanisms include stimulating improved self-regulation of nerve signaling and other biochemical actions, studies also demonstrate the direct effects of acupuncture on the central nervous system. These include spinal reflex effects, where acupuncture stimulates muscle relaxation and changes in visceral organs. In the brain, acupuncture has been shown to change functional connectivity, decreasing activity in limbic structures associated with stress and illness while improving the regulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis, the primary system that the body uses for regulating hormones and the physiological stress response.

Additionally, acupuncture modulates parasympathetic activity, the branch of the nervous system associated with rest, relaxation, digestion, and tissue healing. These are only a few of the mechanisms we have discovered so far.

Acupuncture boasts clinical evidence for aiding in dozens of conditions. A recent review examined clinical recommendations from around the world made by government health institutions, national guidelines, and medical specialty groups. Over 27 years, they found 2189 positive recommendations for acupuncture for 204 health problems, mainly in guidelines published in North America, Europe, and Australasia. These official recommendations indicate that acupuncture’s evidence is now acknowledged by medical experts and that acupuncture is no longer considered ‘alternative.’

The Traditional and historical understanding of acupuncture explains its ability to allow the body to rebalance its energy via yin and yang relationships – two sides of a person’s life force. They are also known as qi. An imbalance of these two elements in a person’s qi triggers illness. Similarly to the planet’s mapping, qi runs through meridians in the body, and they can be tapped at specific 350 points. When the needles are inserted at some of these points, the effect triggers reconnection and rebalancing of the body’s energy.

Why Choose Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is considered safe and effective in the hands of a well-trained practitioner. Acupuncture procedures are well established to keep the practice entirely safe with few if any side effects at all. Even better, the approach avoids pharmaceuticals entirely and utilizes the resources already within your body to heal itself.

There are no negative side effects involved, which is a common problem with mainstream painkillers and prescription drugs. Patients are reporting real, positive results in pain and symptom management and reduction, making acupuncture an advised alternative for patients who do not do well with traditional pharmaceutical management solutions.

Benefits Of Acupuncture

When an acupuncture needle is applied at a key point, it creates a sensation in the nervous system, affecting connective tissues as well. That stimulation causes a physical response to the insertion location and blood flow. It also triggers the body to react in a healing mode. This known physical response when guided by intentional damage from a pin can trigger the body to flood a particular area, even when using a small needle, with healing resources, which in turn can benefit other ailments as well.

Acupuncture is often combined with motor point needling and intramuscular stimulation (IMS) techniques to “reset” affected muscle fibres. These processes teach the body to maintain balance between its opposing muscle groups, maintain strength and tone of muscle, as well as open the nervous system circuit to maintain optimal functioning and range of motion. This combination of styles utilizes both traditional and modern anatomical-based applications. These techniques yield instant results in improving range of motion and can release patterns of chronic tension, improve circulation, and release trapped nerve fibres to restore optimal functioning.

Registered Acupuncturists have 3-5 years of post-secondary training, which includes both traditional approaches and anatomical-based acupuncture (like IMS and motor point needling). The education also includes thousands of hours of needling supervision and practice before sitting for extensive board examinations.  Registered Acupuncturists practice these skills with the utmost safety and efficacy.

Cutting-Edge Techniques for Targeted Therapeutic Outcomes

Assessment and treatment are always tailored to the needs of each individual patient.

All of the needles used will be single-use. Each needle is then applied sequentially, and patients typically report a slight sting or ache sensation at the insertion site.

Once the needle is placed, most patients report little if any sensation unless the needle is directly moved. The needles will stay in place for a time window ranging from five to thirty minutes. Electrical stimulation may also be applied to the needles to improve muscle and nerve function. Cupping Massage is often also combined into treatment.  Once the time is up, the individual treatment is completed. A common schedule for a patient involves about 8 to 12 sessions, applied weekly and running about two to three months.
