Benefits of Massage Therapy

Customized RMT Plans For Individualized Wellness Goals

We may use different specialties within massage therapy to meet differing client preferences and goals. The basic form of massage within Western cultures is “Swedish Massage”, also known as “Classical Massage”. Other specialities include: Clinical Massage (focusing on certain health and wellness goals), Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Hot Stones, Thai Yoga Massage, Prenatal Massage, and Graston Technique Therapy.

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduces any tension in the muscle and tissue.

Deep tissue massage techniques are also used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle “knots” or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.

Targeted Techniques to Address Specific Health Needs

The most commonly used techniques of Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) tend to be:

Hot Stone

The Hot Stone treatment uses the basic principles and movements of classic Swedish massage but utilizes hot rocks to help relax the muscles and get a deep massage with less direct pressure.

Swedish Massage

The Swedish Massage technique is characterized by very long strokes, with deep pressure, and is intended to help with overall circulation. This technique helps to relieve muscle tension and pain through heat and increased blood flow to the affected area.

Graston Technique Therapy

The Graston Technique is a therapeutic method for treating disorders of the skeletal muscles and related connective tissue. In this method, practitioners use stainless steel tools to massage patients’ muscles in order to detect and resolve adhesions in the muscles and tendons.

Deep Tissue Massage

A Deep Tissue Massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It utilizes firm pressure and slow strokes to target specific areas of tension and discomfort in the body. The massage therapist may use their hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, or specialized tools to apply pressure and manipulate the deep layers of tissue.

Prenatal

Prenatal massage helps ease tension and pain by promoting relaxation – while keeping mom and baby safe and comfortable. Prenatal massage can help alleviate pregnancy back pain and increase blood circulation, which can provide more oxygen and nutrients to the baby.

Craniosacral Therapy

Through gentle touch and manipulation of the craniosacral system, including the skull, spine, and pelvis, CST aims to rebalance the body's natural rhythm and promote overall well-being. Safe for all ages, CST helps individuals experience relief from pain, tension, and stress.
